Theatricks Working on MY SON PINOCCHIO

Theatricks is scheduled to perform Disney's MY SON PINOCCHIO September 2-18, 2011 at the Honey McGee Playhouse on 313 W. Mulberry Street in Sherman, TX.
Just as author Carlo Collodi created the story of Pinocchio, David I. Stern with music by Stephen Schwartz transforms the original story into the musical play MY SON PINOCCHIO which captures the lessons of what it is to be a good father and son.Geppetto, the toymaker is lonely and therefore decides to carve a puppet son from a log of wood. Webster Crocker, Theatricks Director with the help of Sylvia Rivers Vocal Director, Fred Freeman Orchestra Director, and Amy Wallace Choreographer have been shaping and molding a cast of 28 towards the opening of Theatricks 2011-2012 season the first of September.
Working tirelessly for five weeks, the cast has been learning their music which includes the two classic songs "When You Wish Upon a Star" and "I've Got No Strings", dances, blocking and lines to entertain our community with family entertainment. The crew of Christina and Jesse Childress, plus Brittani Crocker, Tina Ross, Tammy Daubenspeck, John Lonnevik and Steven Mildward have been busily assembling a multifaceted set and colorful folk costumes.
Starring in the lead roles of Geppetto and Pinocchio are newcomers Les McConnell and Dylan Cassady-Horton. The wish-granting Blue Fairy is also Theatricks newcomer Chrystal Coker. Master Puppeteer Stromboli is veteran John Lonnevik accompanied by other veterans Jesse Childress, Rafe McConnell, and Hannah Sanza as Professor Buonragazzo, Junior, and the Ringleader.
The cast also includes a teenager chorus and children's chorus who play multiple roles. The teenage chorus consists of Daria Hauber, Johanna Hunter, Joshua Bayless, Kelly Phelan, Lydia Stufflebean, Matthew Maxwell, Samantha Hinton, and Shelby Hamilton. The children's chorus consists of Alayna Hancock, Ava Gibson, Caleb Crocker, Caroline Boykin, Deacon Lovell, Dylan Osborne, Fisher Hull, Hailie Barnett, Jacob and Laith Burnham, Macy and Sophie Baca, and Lilly Boessen.
The cast will be accompanied by a nine member combo band consisting of Timothy Jenkins as rehearsal pianist and Keyboard 1, Cathy Sauls as Keyboard Accordion, Nathan Childress as Keyboard Mandolin and Guitar, Sandra Freeman as Keyboard Strings, Thomas Hardin and Barbara Riedl as Trumpet, Cornet, Flugelhorn, Dale Sterzer as Tuba, Tom Crone on Drums, and Justin Sterzer on String Bass.
Reservations for MY SON PINOCCHIO will begin Monday, August 29 for Theatricks season members and on Tuesday, August 30 for the general public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To make reservations call the SCP box office at (903)892-8818 or visit the box office window in the Honey McGee Playhouse on those days during box office hours. Tickets for MY SON PINOCCHIO are all $10, and Theatricks 2011-2012 season memberships are on sale now for $18 and include all three Theatricks shows of MY SON PINOCCHIO, CHARLOTTE'S WEB, and SARAH, PLAIN AND TALL.
