On Thursday, September 19th at 6:00pm, Georgetown Baptist Church in Pottsboro, Preston Trail NSDAR will have their monthly meeting.
The guest speaker will include Mr. Danny Defenbaugh, former agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for almost 33 years. His primary investigative responsibilities centered on violent crimes, i.e. kidnapping, extortion, hijacking, and terrorist/bombing matters. He became Inspector in 1995 and was in charge of the Oklahoma City bombing investigation.
Lisa Lettie, Regent will call the meeting to order. Opening sentences of the NSDAR ritual will be following by the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag, the American's Creed and the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States. Following the program a business meeting will be held, and city officials from Denison and Pottsboro will read aloud their citys Constitution Week Proclamation. Constitution Week, September 17 - 23, commemorates the signing of the Constitution of the United States. The U.S. Constitution is the oldest constitution still in active use in the world today and is the basic document of our republic, which protects the individual liberties of all citizens through written law.

At the meeting we will be collecting items for veterans at the Bonham VA hospital. We will also be collecting items for our newest adopted U.S. Marine who is serving in Afghanistan, Sgt Angela Gonzalez and her platoon.

Regent Lisa Lettie will announce an award the chapter recently received from National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. We were awarded the Chapter Achievement Award - Level 1, the highest level a chapter can achieve based on their service to the community and veterans.

Plans are also in place for Preston Trail daughters to participate in the Pottsboro Frontier Day Parade and booths on Saturday, October 5th.

Ladies interested in learning about the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution are invited to all Preston Trail meetings. Any woman, 18 years or older, is invited to consider membership in the society. Trained genealogist volunteers are available at no charge to assist in the lineage research needed for membership. Proof must be found and documented that the woman has someone in her lineage who either fought in or gave support to the American Revolution. For more information, please contact: Regent Lisa Lettie 817-360-6830 or Registrar Lisa Hall 903-464-0797.
