PARIS - The Texas Department of Transportation recently met with Highway 19 Construction, LLC of Sulphur Springs to coordinate construction of four new bridges in Lamar County. The bridges, located on FM 1499 at Tabor Creek, County Road 13500 at Branch of Auds Creek, High Street at Denton Creek and FM 137 at Denton Creek, will take about nine months to complete at a cost of approximately $1.3 million.

The project will replace existing bridges with longer and wider bridges. Construction of the new bridges on FM 1499, CR 13500 and FM 137 will take place in two phases, which first will require construction of a detour to facilitate impacted traffic routes. The High Street bridge will require temporary closure of the road while the old bridge is removed and replaced. Once the bridge is in service, High Street will be reopened for travel.

Access to adjacent properties will be maintained throughout the duration of contract work. TxDOT has worked closely with Lamar County throughout the planning and design process and will continue to do so during construction. Safety is a priority in these work zones and TxDOT urges the travelers to observe warning signs during the construction of this project.
