Gainesville, TX - Elder law attorney Richard M. Barron was recently quoted as saying, "So many people have failed to plan. Updating existing documents or putting legal documents in place can mean the difference between peace of mind and utter chaos." Wheeler House, an Assisted Living Concepts, Inc facility at 2310 East Broadway in Gainesville will host a free workshop on January 29, 2010 to help seniors and their families better understand legal options necessary for their well being.

According to attorney Barron, author of The Consumers Life Care Planning, it is never too early for an individual or couple to begin preparing for the future. "All of us want to age in place, that is to stay in our own homes and be independent," Barron said, "but the reality is some of us will need help either at home or in a care facility. It is important to know what steps to take to insure when additional care is needed, no one has to loose sleep worrying about how to pay for the needed care and what happens to the well spouse."

In an ongoing effort to assist seniors and their families in the maze of legal, financial and health care options, Attorney Barron provides free workshops and seminars as a public service. Wheeler House will host such an event at 6 pm on Friday, January 29, 2010 featuring Attorney Barron. The workshop is designed to address such questions as:
1. Why do I need a will?
2. What are Advance Directives?
3. Who is eligible for Veterans Benefits that help pay for medical expenses?
4. Why plan ahead?
5. Will the government take my home if I go on Medicaid?
6. What is "Spend Down"?
7. What is a trust? Why have one? How do they work?
8. What is Life Care Planning?

This workshop is free and open to anyone who desires to know more about legal alternatives for protecting their assets, their spouse and their home in these days of high health care costs. Information gathered from an elder law attorney and other experts can allow the senior and their family to face whatever situations arise with peace of mind knowing they have a plan in place. For more information about this workshop, readers can call 800-939-9093 to reserve their seat or go online to www.texaselderlawattorney.com .
