Texas Department of Transportation officials met with representatives of East Texas Bridge, Inc. of Longview, Texas on Friday, February 12, 2013 to discuss the upcoming replacement of 2 bridges in Fannin County; CR 538, (FCR 4425), at Rock Creek in Precinct No. 3, and CR 637, (FCR 3720), at Spring Creek in Precinct No. 4. This project is federally funded and is part of the bridge replacement program designed to upgrade deficient bridges across the state.

The work will consist of replacing the old bridge structures with a new bridge. The new bridge for CR 583, (FCR 4425), at Rock Creek will be 24 feet wide and 50 feet long. The new bridge for CR 637, (FCR 3720) at Spring Creek will be 24 feet wide and 45 feet long. Both locations will be closed to traffic until the new construction is complete. Contract cost for the project is $315,225.20 and 65 working days have been allowed to complete the project. The contractor is scheduled to begin placement of project signs and barricades Thursday, February 28, 2013. The projected completion date for each bridge is listed below. These dates may vary somewhat due to adverse weather affecting working conditions.

Fannin County, Precinct No. 3 Approximate Duration
CR 538 (FCR 4425) @ Rock Creek Begin 02/28/13 & End 05/31/13

Grayson County, Precinct No. 4 Approximate Duration
CR 637 (FCR 3720) @ Spring Creek Begin 02/28/13 & End 05/31/13

The traveling public is requested to observe construction signs, traffic control devices, and flag persons and to approach work zones and detours with extreme caution and reduced speed while using the temporary detour.
