Texas Department of Transportation met with Martin Marietta Materials, Inc., of Hot Springs, Arkansas to discuss traffic control during the construction of SH 121 from SH 56 to US 82 in Bonham. This project will upgrade SH 121 to a widened four lane roadway with shoulders and updated traffic signals.
The work to be done will consist of widening the subgrade, adding flexible base, with a two-course asphaltic surface treatment, hot mix, new pavement markings, concrete sidewalks with handicap assessable ramps and updated traffic signals with pedestrian crosswalk features. The contractor began setting barricades and signs on Monday, March 11th, with work to begin immediately thereafter. The contractor has been granted 284 working days to complete the $6,855,007.15 project. Anticipated completion is September, 2014.
Two lanes (one each direction) will be available during the duration of this project. However, one lane closures will take place occasionally during day light hours.
The traveling public is requested to observe signs, barricades, and flaggers, to approach work zones cautiously and with reduced speed.
