SHERMAN, TEXAS--Dr. Jacqueline Moore, Austin College professor of history, will be one of the featured presenters on Friday, December 6, at the inaugural TEDxTurtleCreekWomen event entitled "Invented Here". TED events provide a platform for world-changing ideas that are delivered by the world's leading thinkers and doers. TEDx programs are locally organized with the goal of sparking deep discussion and connection within a smaller group.

The TEDxTurtleCreekWomen event will feature 15 top business, technology, science, and community leaders speaking on various topics from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., exploring solutions to poverty, education, the economy, and more.

Austin College students and the North Texas-area public are invited to participate in a free Watch Party for the program, via live-stream webcast, at Wright Campus Center, Room 254, at Austin College in Sherman, Texas.

"I am honored to be selected to speak at the inaugural TEDxTurtleCreekWomen event in North Texas and represent Austin College," said Dr. Moore. "This is an exciting opportunity for our community, and hopefully this year's success will pave the way for more outstanding programs in the future."

Austin College students and area residents interested in viewing the live-stream webcast on campus or who have questions regarding the TEDxTurtleCreekWomen event are asked to contact Alena Oglesbee at 903.813.2891 or aoglesbee11@austincollege.edu in advance of the program.

About TEDxTurtleCreekWomen
TEDxTurtleCreekWomen is an independently organized TEDx event. Turtle Creek rises in north Dallas and winds its way through the communities of Highland Park and University Park until it flows into the Trinity River at the foot of the city's emerging communities to the south. Considered "the most notable waterway in Dallas," Turtle Creek has witnessed the city's history from its farming and ranching roots to its current status as the city with the largest number of corporate headquarters in the country. Fed by numerous fresh springs, Turtle Creek has never run dry. It is this quiet, consistent strength that has fed the core of what Dallas is, and all it will be. This is where optimism meets opportunity. Turtle Creek Women reflects this same strength with fresh ideas that never run dry.

*This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED.
