SHERMAN, TEXAS-Austin College will host its annual Student Scholarship Conference on campus March 21-22. The event showcases student presentations of research projects, intellectual scholarship activities, and creative works. Submitted projects were selected by a faculty committee for presentation at the conference that celebrates outstanding academic endeavors. The sessions are free and open to the public.

The conference will include a performance by the College Improv Troupe, "Chamber Music for Voices and Instruments," bilingual stage readings of "Quixotic Madness," a Poster Symposium, multiple sessions of oral presentations of student research, student art displays, and a shadow cast presentation of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Many of the research projects have been undertaken jointly with faculty members while others represent individual work. More than 150 students will be involved in the conference.

Fine arts faculty representatives are Ricky Duhaime, professor of music and Mildred S. Mosher Professor of Music; and Mark Monroe, associate professor of art. Senior Kyle Potaniec has served as intern for the project.

Sponsored by Austin College's Robert and Joyce Johnson Center for Faculty Development and Excellence in Teaching, the conference represents a collaborative endeavor by faculty to provide a forum for students to share discoveries and creative expression in their respective areas of study, encompassing all academic divisions of the College. Bernice Melvin, Margaret Root Brown Chair of Foreign Languages and Literatures and professor of French, is the director of the Johnson Center.
