<![CDATA[It looks like Old Man Winter finally gave up the goat and it is about time. We've had some warmer weather the past few days and the fishing seems to be getting a little more consistent. My last trip I was reading a surface temperature of 50° in the necks but it is still 46° in the main lake. All my fish are still coming off of 5" glow sassys on a 1 ½ oz head slow rolling along the bottom in 15-40 feet of water on ledges and humps. When slow rolling, what you want to do is cast into the wind and basically let the boat pull the lure along while reeling very slowly but do not drag the bottom. The wind speed will determine how fast you need to reel to keep the lure in the strike zone which is about 1 foot off the bottom. Every 5-6 cranks or so release the spool and let the lure fall back to the bottom so that you are staying in the strike zone. If the wind is blowing too fast this method will not work as effectively but drift socks will work great to slow you down so you can continu]]>

The lawyers at the Texas law firm of Sanders, O'Hanlon & Motley have decades of experience in maximizing compensation to North and East Texas landowners and fighting efforts to use land for purposes that would diminish the value of surrounding property.

For example, attorney Luke Motley has assisted landowners in maximizing the value of their land value in condemnation proceedings by natural gas companies seeking pipeline easements. Mr. Motley also obtained a significant judgment against the city of Sherman on behalf of a client whose property was rezoned to a use that left it commercially worthless.

<![CDATA[It was a pleasure meeting so many people at the Dallas Boat Show but I'm glad to be back on the water fishing again. Falling water temperatures, due to the recent snow fall on Lake Texoma, has sent the bait into deep water in the river channels making it impossible to catch. Lake Texoma elevation is 617 (2 ft above normal) and I am marking 40-43° surface temperature. Luckily the lure fishing has been fair to good depending on the weather and we are still having successful fishing trips. Late February and March are some of the best months to lure fish and there have been several occasions where lures have worked better than bait during this time so not being able to catch bait has not been a critical factor.

Having been at the Dallas Boat Show for the past couple of weeks, I tried to pick up where I had left off. I set out to go catch bait. I threw in Cedar Bayou, Rock Creek, Shepherd Annex, Mill Creek, Cardinal Cove, Eisenhower, and the back of Simmons Shores. I also got]]>

<![CDATA[Many of us assume that disease is part of the normal aging process. It is not. Aging is not a process of decline; it is a process of becoming, of continuing to meet life's challenges and of growing into a complete human being. The second half of life brings many changes: new career, retirement, widowhood, a new home, an "empty nest." Many of these changes bring new freedom and opportunities. Others may present problems, many of which can be addressed if we plan for them.

Everyone is aging. We begin the process at birth. Everyone wants a long and healthy life. So, what do we typically find when we look to see how healthy elders have lived their lives In his book Taking Care of Today and Tomorrow, George J. Pfeiffer noted that people who live in areas with especially long life expectancy have the following characteristics, apart from hereditary or genetic influences (we cannot choose our parents or grandparents, but their life expectancy influences ours):

I haven't been able to bring home a good box of fish since the last artic blast blew through, with humbling totals of 10 fish or less on the few trips that have decided to fish. Thankfully on Saturday, with temperatures not rising above freezing, I was blessed with some feeding fish to give me a decent box of fish.

Saturday was a cold one. With temperatures in the 20's all day it made everything a challenge. My locks and dock lines were froze solid and had to be pried free. My bait was barely hanging in there but after changing the water it thankfully perked right up in the warmer lake water. I had 3 guys which were repeat customers and had full confidence that I would put them on some fish. Possibly even a little more confidence than I had, with the way the fishing had been, but I knew that fish would eventually start biting for me sooner or later. It was as good of a day as any with a change in the weather. We headed out]]>

<![CDATA[Whitesboro, TX - Elder law attorney Richard M. Barron was recently quoted as saying, "Holiday visits frequently prompt families into action as they recognize the need for aging relatives to have more help in the home. These changes happen gradually, and often a visiting relative, who has not seen the person for some time, notices these additional care needs which can help the elder remain safely at home."

Here are some tips for moving forward when one feels an aging relative may need some additional help and guidance:

1.	Be observant. Is your loved one losing weight Do they appear well groomed Is the home keep neat and orderly Is there food in the pantry
2.	Talk with your loved one. Ask if help with housework or cooking might
be welcome. Discuss fears of falling or being alone at night. Explore what activities of daily living are becoming more difficult to accomplish.
3.	Be sure all appropriate planning documents are in place for your loved one in ]]>

<![CDATA[This week I will continue discussing the interim charges for House
committees. The charges are good indicators of what legislation the
legislature will take up during the next session. Interim charges are
the issues that the Speaker asks committees to study during the time
between regular legislative sessions in order to make recommendations
for legislation for the following legislative session. Legislators
rely on public input when crafting legislation, and it is important that
they hear from people during the interim. This week I will review the
charges for the Committee on County Affairs, which has jurisdiction on
all matters pertaining to counties, including their organization,
creation, boundaries, government, finance and the compensation and
duties of their officers and employees; establishing districts for the
election of governing bodies of counties; regional councils of
governments; multicounty boards or commissions; relationships or]]>

<![CDATA[Its Christmas time again here on Lake Texoma and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! We have been enjoying some very beautiful weather and some great fishing here on the big lake the last few days. The striper fishing remains good. We're still catching lots of fish on every trip with the occasional big fish thrown in the mix. The fish are getting set into their winter patterns and the majority of the fish are starting to move towards the river necks, however, there are still large schools of fish hanging out in the main lake on the river ledges in 50-70ft of water. The blue cats are beginning to school up in the deep water but I haven't found anything consistent yet. I've been too busy catching stripers to hunt them down.

Saturday December 20th I had a group of 2. I was excited because I had a full tank of bait which is something that I had to go without on my previous trip because there was none to be found in the Little Mineral arm, so I trailered my boat a]]>
