SHERMAN – February 14, 2004—La Puerta, the first and only local TV show in Spanish, will air February 21st on Channel 30 of CableOne. This new public access family-oriented programming will serve the Hispanic community in the Grayson County area. Producers Luis Moya and Diana Moya, will be sharing information on home ownership and will interview other professionals and community leaders in an effort to educate Hispanics on what to look for when accessing professional services. It is well known that the Hispanic population is on the rise and that their increased spending would produce a positive economic impact in the area. Little has been done to properly serve this segment of our population and they are often victimized. Diana Moya comments that, “Especially in real estate, many Hispanics buy dilapidated houses just because they have no idea on how to utilize the services of real estate, lending, insurance, and title professionals to assure a safe, secure transaction. Statistics show that Hispanics prefer cash purchases over financing, which contributes to their buying low priced homes which are generally in poor condition.” The public is invited to contribute to La Puerta, an educational community service program in Spanish. For more information, contact Diana Moya at 903-744-5814.
