The Pottsboro Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored its annual Frontier Days festival on Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24, 2005. Located in beautiful Friendship Park, adjacent to the Pottsboro Visitor’s Center at 615 Highway 120 East, the 2-day event with live entertainment, vendor booths, carnival rides, and food and refreshment vendors, was a huge success. Friendship Park is located at the eastern entrance into Pottsboro. Local merchants invite you to come shop, tour Pottsboro and see our town. This annual event celebrates the early cattle trail drives along the old Preston Trail through Pottsboro. The event kicked off on Friday night, when the Carnival opened in Friendship park. Friday night was designated as “Armband Night” from 7 – 9 PM, to take advantage of the special discounted carnival rides - kids can ride the whole evening for only $12/person! On Saturday we had the annual Frontier Day Parade, followed by an entire day of shopping, carnival rides, and entertainment by Mainstreet Showcase. Or you could just sip a cold drink while sitting under the shade trees and enjoying the entertainment and shopping. A free shuttle bus to take visitors to our area merchants along F M 120 was made available. The free shuttle ran all day Saturday. Next September, bring the entire family and enjoy the fun and Frontier Day hospitality of Pottsboro…the Small town with the Big Lake! For more information, please call the Pottsboro Chamber at (903) 786-6371 or log on to www.pottsborochamber.com. Ya’ll come!
