WHY DO I HAVE DEGENERATION???
Article
Many times when patients see their x-rays and are shown the degeneration or arthritis in their spine they often reply "Well doc, I guess I'm just getting old." When in all actuallity, age is never the cause of osteoarthritis, nor is it bad luck or an accident. So what is the cause of joint degeneration? STRESS! Before we go much deeper we must discuss the wisdom of your body. Each body is equipped with an internal wisdom known as Innate Intelligence. When you cut your finger, a band-aid doesn't heal the wound, your body does while the band-aid just protects it. A cast doesn't heal a broken arm, your body does, the cast just protects it. This is all due to Innate Intelligence. In your body there is a mechanism known as Wolf's Law which simply says where bone is under stress, more bone will be layed down. Let me give you an example. The human foot has an arch in it and if you loose that arch, the fascia or skin on the bottom of your foot is stretched. The stretched fascia is attatched to the heal of your foot. Your bodie's Innate Intelligence realizes that bone is under stress so it sends calcium to make more bone to strengthen it, as more bone is layed down, it forms a bone spur which is often becomes painful. See, it was no accident, just your bodies response to abnormal stress. The same thing hapens in your spine due to subluxation. Two vertebrae loose the normal motion and are under increased stress, so once again your body sends calcium to fix the problem you arent. The good news is that this can all be prevented. All you have to do is ensure you have proper spinal motion between each vertebrae of your spine. The only health care professional that makes this their focus are Doctors of Chiropractic. As a Chiropractor, I detect and correct subluxations or misalignments in the spine. Not only to prevent degenerative changes, but to ensure proper nerve flow throughtout your body, to promote health and wellness for you and your whole family.
