Spoofing Alert & Warning
Article
In one of my past articles I talked about Phishing (pronounced ‘Fishing’), today I would like to bring to your attention “Spoofing”. Spoofing is where someone sends out an e-mail with someone else’s identity. When you get e-mail you most often will look to see whom it is from before opening it up spending time to read it. Spoofers are trying to get you to look at something they want to sell or to drive traffic to their websites. Yesterday (and thanks to my virus protection program) I got two messages indicating that they were from Texomaland.com. In these messages the subject line read; “Your Account is Suspended For Security Reasons”. Well, those e-mails and attached documents were a Trojan Program. My AVG Antivirus program caught it and deleted/isolated the e-mail warning me that it was not safe to open. You can use Google.com or Ask.com to do a search on Trojan Horse, spoofing, and for the AVG’s Antivirus program (a free version is available for download off their site, see if you qualify – personal home computer use, etc.).
