CAST ANNOUNCED FOR SCP’S “THE FOREIGNER”
Article
Sherman Community Players’ managing and artistic director Ron Cassady has announced his cast for the upcoming February production of the very funny comedy, THE FOREIGNER, a winner of numerous theatrical awards, including Best New American Play. Set in a remote fishing lodge in rural Georgia, this inventive comic romp demonstrates what can happen when a group of devious Southerners must deal with a stranger who – think – knows no English. Soon, the “foreigner” becomes privy to more information than he wants, as he learns of darkest secrets, sinister schemes, and untimely pregnancy and other villainies and skullduggeries. The comedy is a storehouse of inspired antics, constant surprises and a bit of sentiment. Cassady has cast the play with a mixture of veterans and new faces. Newcomers include Whitesboro eighth grade teacher Carrie Bistro and Austin College student Greg Griffin. SCP regulars include Brian Burton in the title role, Bruce Butler, Travis Lyons, Paul Jordan and Suzan Fincher, who returns to the Finley stage after several years’ absence. Mrs. Fincher is reprising the role she played when the Players produced the show in 1988. She is best remembered for her beautiful performance in the title role of SCP’s production of DRIVING MISS DAISY. Production personnel in addition to Cassady include Joni Friend as stage manager, Lois Roberds and Lezlie Rube in charge of props, John Lonnevik as lighting and sound operator and Karen Schuth as costumer. The rustic fishing lodge set is designed by SCP technical director Webster Crocker. THE FOREIGNER is slated to open February 1 and play through the 17th. The Sherman Community Theater is located @ 500 N. Elm Street in Sherman. The box office will open on Monday and Tuesday, January 28 & 29th for Season Members only. The box office will be open for the public on Wednesday, January 30th at 10am until 2pm. You may call for reservations at 903-892-8818. The daytime box office is located in the Honey McGee Playhouse located behind the Finley Theater on 313 N. Elm Street in Sherman.
