Sherman community Players’ third play in the season will be THE FOREIGNER, a very funny comedy and winner of numerous theatrical awards, including Best New American Play. Set in a remote inn in rural Georgia, this inventive comic romp is a storehouse of inspired antics, constant surprises and a bit of sentiment.
The leading character is the likable wimp Charlie, an English proofreader for a science-fiction magazine. Jilted by his wife and left alone at the inn among a group of very colorful and interesting strangers, the painfully shy Charlie pretends to be a “foreigner: with no knowledge of English hoping no one will speak to or bother him. Instead he winds up being everyone’s confidant and privy to more information than he wants, as he learns of darkest secrets, sinister schemes, an untimely pregnancy and other nefarious deeds and skullduggeries!
THE FOREIGNER is guaranteed to take audiences on a zany, zig-zag course of uproarious laughter. Come enjoy the ride!
