A stunning color image of a bald eagle perched on a branch at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge and a dozen more bird photographs by Pottsboro resident, Jack Chiles, are displayed on the Friends of Hagerman website for February at www.friendsofhagerman.com.
Chiles has been a volunteer and weekly birder at Hagerman for the past 18 years. Photography has been a hobby of his since high school. He has made a complete transition to digital photography using Nikon cameras and lenses exclusively. His keen interest in nature and knowledge of birds and their habits goes hand in hand with his love of photography.
“I love to share with others the beauty I behold in nature on a weekly basis and what better way is there to share than by photos which you possess long after the fleeting encounters with God's creatures,” Chiles said.
Other birds pictured in the album are Double-crested Cormorants, Blue-winged Teal, Greater Scaup, Horned Grebe, Pileated Woodpecker, Red-headed Woodpecker, White-throated Sparrow, Juvenile Red-tailed Hawk, and Whooping Cranes, all seen on the Refuge this year.
The new album feature will showcase wildlife and nature photographs taken at the Refuge by a different photographer each month. Persons who would like to share their photos may contact friendsofhagerman@gmail.com or call the Refuge at 903-786-2826.
