The Texoma Children’s Museum would like to announce its first "Cinco de Mayo Fundraising Feast and Extravaganza", Sunday, May 4th from 5-8pm. A celebration rich in culture and heritage that promises to excite and tantalize. Cinco De Mayo honors all the participants of the famous battle of Puebla, Mexico, in which Mexico won its independence from France. Sharing with our neighbors to the south the many struggles for independence, we come together in a joint celebration. This year, the Texoma Children’s Museum, presents its "Art Room" benefit Tex-Mex dinner. Chef Teresa Hooter, owner of "Mi Casa Catering" proudly presents her culinary mouthwatering creations. The menu will include a home cooked enchilada dinner complete with Spanish rice, charro beans, homemade flour tortillas and Teresa's own "special recipe “hot sauce. All of Teresa's recipes are made from scratch and some of her recipes date back to the early 1900's when her grandparents arrived in Texas from Mexico. Assisting in this culinary feast, are Teresa's mom Trini Rodriguez, the matriarch responsible for passing down the family art of cooking. Also assisting will be Teresa's brother, chef Joe Rodriguez who has developed recipes for some of Austin's best-known restaurants including: La Zona Rosa, Kerbey Lane and The Texas Chili Parlor. He was recently on the staff of "The Bistro Cafe” located in Nordstrom's department store in Austin. Advance tickets are on sale at the Museum for $8 per plate, or $10 at the door. You may pick up your meal and take it with you or eat at the Museum. Block out your calendar. Make your plans. Get your tickets now. Be part of the talk, but don't be the talk-of-the-town because you missed out. At the risk of editorializing, let me just say “I’m hungry". You need to eat some great food and the “Art Room" needs your support. The children of Texoma thank you in advance. Give generously.
