Nearly 50 people attended Second Saturday at Hagerman NWR to hear Dr. George Diggs' program, Trees of Texoma. Dr. Diggs, Austin College biology professor, gave keys to tree identification and discussed factors influencing the distribution of tree species in the Texoma area, in an informal lecture, then led the group in a nature walk on the Refuge. Second Saturdays are monthly nature programs sponsored by the Friends of Hagerman NWR. The programs are free of charge and open to the public. In addition, the Friends will hold Super Saturday on May 24, for 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., for a full day of fun at the Refuge. there will be a wildflower walk, birding by chair, shorebird field trips, vidoes, crafts for children, sun and star gazing.
