Collinsville Area Caregivers...Come Together Saturday, December 6
Article
Those who are providing care for a loved on in Collinsville or the surrounding area are invited to band together in mutual support! The Alzheimer's Association, Texoma Chapter will sponsor a gathering at the Collinsville Church of Christ from 10 – 11 am on Saturday, December 6 to celebrate support. Those gathered will share with one another and explore the possibility of an ongoing Caregiver Support Group. Dianna Niemann-Harris, Texoma Family Services Manager for the Alzheimer's Association said, "Over 22 million adults are caring for older Americans and 80 percent of that care is provided by family members." With an increasingly aging population in the Texoma area, more opportunities for caregiver support are needed. "Many caregiving relatives find it difficult to come to Gainesville or Sherman for meetings," Niemann-Harris said, "So we are exploring bringing a Support Group to them!" The Caregiver Celebration Gathering is Saturday, December 6 from 10-11. Please come to the fellowship hall of Collinsville Church of Christ, 201 South Walnut in Collinsville, TX. If you are interested in being part of a Caregiver Support Group in Collinsville however cannot attend the gathering, please contact Dianna.Niemann-Harris@alz.org 903-416-1035.
