The fourth production of the Sherman Community Players’ new 2008-2009 Season will be ON GOLDEN POND. Heading the cast is one of SCP’s finest actors, Dick Malnory, who will be reprising the role he created in the Players’ 1985 production.
ON GOLDEN POND is a touching, warm and very funny comedy about a spirited and lovable elderly couple facing their twilight years. It was a smash Broadway hit and an Oscar-winning movie starring Katherine Hepburn and Henry and Jane Fonda. A recent television special starred Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews in the leading roles.
The play tells the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the 44h year. Norman, in failing health and memory, is still eager for life, and Ethel still delights in their life together.
