Activites Added for Super Saturday at Hagerman NWR

Additional activities have been scheduled for Super Saturday, May 23 at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. Jack and Mary K Janco, Sandra Carter and Rex Walker, all members of Red River Fly Fishing, will demonstrate both fly casting and fly tying at various time during the day. Casting demos will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. A woodcarving demonstration will be held at 3 p.m., with Dick Malnory showing carving a shorebird. At 4 p.m., Dr. Wayne Meyer will present In Search of the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker, the story of his foray into the fabled bird's territory in Arkansas as part of a Cornell search team. Both events are free and open to the public, and a complete schedule for the day is posted at www.friendsofhagerman.com, click on News. The Friends of Hagerman are also offering a Gift Corner for the event, in the Visitor Center, with T-shirts bearing design created by photographers Jack Chiles and Jim Gay.
