“CAMELOT” CLOSES SCP SEASON
Article
On Friday evening, June 5 the Sherman Community Players will open their final show of the 2008-2009 Season with the musical CAMELOT. This famous musical comedy is a splendid and richly romantic re-telling of the famed Arthurian legend and celebrates the glorious days of chivalry and the famed Round Table with jousting knights, lovely ladies, magicians and forest spirits. CAMELOT is a creative blend of beautiful music, comedy, drama and romance. The story follows the fabled King Arthur from his shy first meeting with his future bride, Guenevere, through his brotherly relationship with the egotistical Lancelot and ultimately ending in the heartbreaking love triangle between the three. Singers, actors and musicians have been rehearsing for five weeks to bring the lovely music of composers Lerner and Lowe to life. Songs from the show include How To Handle A Woman, Camelot, What Do The Simple Folk Do?, If Ever I Would Leave You and many more. Volunteers have been working for over a month building and painting the magical castle, sewing the many jeweled costumes and creating the beautiful lighting that makes the mystical world of Camelot come to life. CAMELOT is scheduled to open June 5 and runs through June 28 with performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. Performances are held in the Finley Theatre at 500 N. Elm in Sherman. Tickets are priced from $7 to $16. For reservations call the box office at 903-892-8818. ****************************************************************** PICTURE ID: (left to right) AUSTIN TOOLEY as King Arthur, TAYLOR MEEK as Queen Guenevere and HARRIS TOOLEY as Sir Lancelot in a scene from Sherman Community Players’ summer musical CAMELOT.
