Senior, Access Passes for Federal Recreation Areas Now at Hagerman NWR

Senior Passes and Access Passes (formerly called Golden Age and Golden Access Passports) can now be purchased at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday - Friday (closed major holidays). Available at the Refuge Office/Visitor Center, the passes are good for free or discounted entry and discounted camping fees at many federal recreation areas across the United States. The Senior Pass is an affordable lifetime pass - available to U.S. Citizens and permanent residents who are 62 years and older - that provides access to recreation areas managed by five Federal agencies. It also provides the pass owner a discount on some Expanded Amenity Fees such as camping. The cost of the Senior Pass is $10, and it is valid for the lifetime of the pass owner. Senior Passes are honored by the Forest Service, the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Bureau of Reclamation honor the Senior Pass at sites where Entrance or Standard Amenity Fees are charged. In addition, the Corps of Engineers and Tennessee Valley Authority may honor the Senior Pass, but visitors are always encouraged to contact the site they plan to visit and inquire about pass acceptance before visiting. The Access Pass is a free, lifetime pass - available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States who have been medically determined to have a permanent disability – the pass provides access to recreation areas managed by the same five Federal agencies, as well as a discount on some Expanded Amenity Fees The Access Pass is free, and it is valid for the lifetime of the pass owner. An Access Pass may be issued to eligible persons who have been medically determined to have a permanent disability that severely limits one or more major life activities. Some examples of acceptable documentation of disability include: statement by a licensed physician; document issued by Federal agency such as the Veteran's Administration, Social Security Disability Income, or Supplemental Security Income; or a document issued by a State agency such as a vocational rehabilitation agency.
