The fourth show in Sherman Community Players’ 2009-2010 season will be the 1950’s drama TWELVE ANGRY MEN. The award-winning play is a gripping and engrossing examination of a diverse group of twelve jurors (all male, mostly middle-aged, white, and generally of middle-class status) who are uncomfortably brought together to deliberate the facts in a seemingly open-and-shut murder case. They retire to a jury room to do their civic duty and serve up a just verdict for the indigent 19 year old minority defendant.
The play looks behind the doors of the jury room and gives audience members a special insight into the deliberations of the mixed bag of jurors as they consider the evidence and debate the question “What is reasonable doubt?” The result is an exciting piece of theatre in which eleven believe the defendant is guilty, while one juror stands courageously alone for what he believes is justice.
The cast is a mixture of new faces on the Finley stage and a balance of talented SCP veteran performers.
Newcomers are ED RICHARDSON, WALLY JOHNSON, MIKE COULTER, JIM BARNES, DEAN LEANCH and SEAN STROTHER. Rounding out the cast are FRANK STEELE, JERRY GUNDERSHEIMER, PAUL JORDAN, MIKE TARZIS, MARK BEARDSLEY and ROGER GREGORY-ALLEN, with BILLY KEENE serving as the bailiff.
