July 3 Cookout and Roll Out
Article
Pottsboro, TX - Preston Volunteer Emergency Services will host a cookout, beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 3 at the station. Hamburgers, hotdogs and all of the fixin’s will be cooked and served by volunteers. The cost is $5 per person. At 12:30 p.m., all volunteer firefighters and the PVES Board of Directors will “push-out” its newest acquisition, a 1997 E-One Pumper. This ceremony is a tradition started back in the days of horse drawn fire fighting equipment. The firefighters would “push out” the carts from the service area to celebrate new acquisitions. Our new truck will be driven out, with everyone accompanying it. The engine has a 1,000 gallon tank, International chassis, and has seating for 5. It will pump 1,250 gallons per minute, right and left 2.5” intakes and four 2.5” dischargers. The public is invited to attend the cookout and the push-out celebration. PVES is a 501(c)3 organization, providing ambulance, firefighting, rescue and emergency response services to the Preston peninsula, Pottsboro residents, and visitors to the area. PVES is located at 85584 N. State Highway 289, Pottsboro, TX. For more information, volunteer opportunities or other questions, call 903-786-3010 or visit our website at www.pves.org.
