Companies, municipalities and homeowners install concrete fences or walls on their property for a number of reasons. Concrete fences provide extraordinary security and privacy. Concrete sound walls are extremely effective at reducing noise. Concrete walls also make excellent retaining walls, providing a consistent flow for the landscape architecture of the property.
Yes, concrete fencing and walls are strong and durable, but they have never been particularly attractive - until now. Princeton, Texas-based Hawk Construction utilizes the patent-pending, Verti-Crete precast concrete forming system to produce the highest quality concrete walls and columns that combine the superior strength of concrete with the beautiful appearance of a natural stone masonry screen wall.
"We manufacture and install a precast concrete screen wall," explains Hawk Construction's John Walsh, Jr. "We pour the precast concrete walls here in our facility in Princeton, then ship them to the jobsite for installation. This provides much greater quality assurance as well greater economies of scale. Bottom line - the customer gets a better product at a better price."
By pouring their concrete screen walls vertically, Hawk Construction is able to create unique, double-sided patterns which can be custom stained to the customer's specifications, giving each concrete fence panel the distinctive look of stone masonry wall, but at a fraction of the cost.
"Maintenance is a common concern when it comes to perimeter fences," Walsh says. "The mortar lines in brick walls can fail; wooden walls can deteriorate and the stain fades over time; poured in place concrete walls have a smooth surface that attracts graffiti artists. Our concrete screen walls require virtually no maintenance beyond keeping a constant moisture level in the surrounding soil. And because they have a texture surface they do not provide an inviting canvas for graffiti artists. "
Not all precast concrete masonry walls are created equal however. Each Verti-Crete concrete wall panel manufactured by Hawk Construction is built to exacting specifications from steel rebar-reinforced, 4,000 PSI concrete. The panels are 4.5" thick, making them virtually indestructible.
"There are some competitors in the area that install much thinner concrete wall panels," Walsh notes. "Their 2" walls can be snapped in half with a good kick. But our precast concrete fence systems meet or exceed all municipal building code wind-shear standards. They can take just about anything Mother Nature can throw at them."
Hawk Construction's Verti-Crete wall system has been approved for installation by multiple Texas municipalities including Plano, Allen, San Antonio, Denton, Frisco, McKinney and many others. Because to the superior sound deadening properties of Hawk Construction's concrete sound wall panels, municipalities and contractors use them to create a perimeter fence between sub-divisions and major thoroughfares.
Walsh is quick to point out that while Hawk Construction works with some of the biggest companies and municipalities in the state, they are equally adept at helping homeowners with individual projects. "We do a lot of work with municipalities and major developers, but we are available to residential customers as well. It is a versatile product for individual homeowners that is going to last. It is a one time wall."
