SHERMAN, TEXAS — Austin College has been awarded a Technology Assistance Grant from Mobile Beacon’s mobile broadband grant program. As a part of the program, Austin College will receive 25 laptops and 4G modems, which includes free high-speed Internet service through June 2012.
The laptops and 4G Internet devices will increase access to mobile technology for students and faculty members, said Bill Edgette, executive director of information technology and services at Austin College.
Students and faculty members who travel to academic conferences to present research, take off-campus January Term courses, or have other mobile technology needs will have access to the equipment. The equipment also will be available to business administration and economics students involved in collaborative projects requiring mobile technology.
