SHERMAN, TEXAS—The Austin College Department of Music will present the spring concert of the Austin College Concert Band April 17 at 7 p.m. in Wynne Chapel. The performance will include the premiere of an arrangement for solo oboe written by Dr. Ricky Duhaime, Austin College professor of music. The concert is free and open to the public. The Concert Band is directed by Bob Archer, Austin College adjunct instructor in music.
The concert is titled “Joy In All Things” (a musical perspective). “Joy can be found in many places, some obvious and some not so obvious,” Archer said, describing the concert. “The musician can find ways to express joy in all things, some obvious and some not so obvious.”
The band will perform “Joy In All Things” by Brian Balmages; “Xerxes” by John Mackey; “Resting in the Peace of His Hands” by John Gibson; “Two Sonata Movements” for Oboe by Dr. Ricky Duhaime
