Preston Trail Participate in Public Reading of US Constitution
Article
Members of Preston Trail Chater NSDAR participated in the public reading of the US Constitution to celebrate it’s 226th anniversary of it's signing by our founders. The event was hosted by the Benjamin Lyon Chapter NSDAR in Denton. The event took place on September 17th in the Commissioners’ Courtroom at the Courthouse on the Square. Readers included NSDAR daughters from both chapters, members of the Sons of the American Revolution and community citizens. The event was designed to educate, commemorate and celebrate our Constitution. "The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon." ~ George Washington The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation's children. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership. With more than 175,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world's largest and most active service organizations.
