Durant Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Chugger's as its first and only Tavern, sportsbar and nightly dance club to its membership.
Chugger's is located at 303 W. Main in Durant. Chugger's has remodeled what was formerly the Sportsmans Club, which held the distinction of being the first tavern to serve beer after prohibition.
Chugger's is owned and operated by Rhonda and William Melcher. Chuggers opens at noon seven days a week.
Chuggers will be featuring live entertainment starting May 2nd with the Seth James band and May 8th with Stoney LaRue and the organic boogie band.
Chugger's recently added a 1,100 square foot outdoor beer patio for their patrons to enjoy a ice cold beverage and enjoy the wonderful spring and summer weather of Texomaland. Their beer patio, or beer garden, offers a pit to play horseshoes or the old Italian lawn bowling game of Bocce Ball. There are also several tables to sit and enjoy conversation, music, bar-b-q or a competitive game of dominoes.
Chugger's also features 3 televisions to view your favorite sporting events, two pool tables, two plastic tipped dart boards, two steel tipped dart boards and two domino tables. They open their dance floor nightly at 9 pm.
Their daily promotions include two happy hours fom 12pm - 1 pm & 5 - 7pm . Chugger's happy hours on Th & Fri include a free food buffet. On Thursdays and Saturdays they offer all the draft beer you can drink for $5. from 10 pm -2 am.
