Brian Hander Speaks at Preston Trail DAR Meeting
Article
Pottsboro, Texas - The Preston Trail chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met on the evening of Thursday, September 6th, with Brian Hander giving an informative presentation about one of Denison’s well-known early citizens and benefactors, Justin Raynal. He was a successful businessman. Raynal was a charitable man, always had a kind word and his purse was always open to helping the poor. He was very instrumental in bringing free education to Denison children, and in his will, his entire estate was left to the Denison public school system. The speaker Brian Hander is a Denison graduate, a pharmacist, an author and is very active in local politics and public service. Chapter Librarian, Beth Bowling presented a copy of Brian Hander’s book “Denison (Postcard History)” in his honor to the Pottsboro Public Library on behalf of the Preston Trail DAR Chapter. In other business at the meeting, the chapter discussed its plans to assist disabled veterans in Grayson County. The project aims to widen home bathroom doors, install accessibility aids and replace fixtures with accessible ones, as needed. There are eligibility requirements. If you or someone you know is a veteran, owns your home and needs this assistance, please contact our chapter at prestontrailnsdar@gmail.com .
