Ann Malone was in house this last Tuesday for the second iGuild meeting of the month, preparing to illustrate to all in attendance just how complicated and interesting the 3D game development process is. Due to legal issues, Ann wasn't able to use her original demo based on her actual game in development, but still managed to put together a very thorough and well thought out presentation about the ins and outs of the gaming industry. Ann touched on a wide spectrum of topics, from the pros and cons of weither or not to join a development house or carry the workload alone. She went on to talk about which kind of company you'd want to set up and the various kind of team members you'd need to accumulate. From there, Ann spoke about the different game documents that are necessary, from legal NDAs to basic elements like plot. Ann also included information about which software you would need to develop and render the game, and what kind of hardware would be necessary for final development. Ann even spoke briefly about the final stages of development, including assembling the game, and beta testing. Each meeting of the iGuild contains just as much information about cutting-edge technologies and groud-breaking developments. For meeting times and information, please see the iGuild website.
