Article
AUSTIN, TX - Representative Ron Clark spoke at the 29th Annual Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, January 18th. Clark was asked to address students at the Graduation Luncheon held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Austin. He commended them on their hard-work and spoke on the importance of their roles in city government. “I always enjoy speaking to the municipal clerks,” said Clark. “The participants in this program have gone through extensive training to receive their certification and offer and invaluable service to cities throughout Texas.” Clark is the author of The Texas Municipal Law and Procedure Manual which is used as a textbook to city clerks and secretaries as well as other city officials. The goal of this program is to provide an education for the beginning and career city clerk and city secretary and help them meet the highest standards of functional competence and ethical sensitivity. The TMCA program is the only university-level professional education program for city clerks and city secretaries in Texas and is the third oldest of 39 such programs in the country. Each person that is certified through this program in Texas must recertify every five years. Recertification requires an additional 80 hours of professional development course work every five years.
