SHERMAN - Representative Ron Clark is pleased to announce the third Texas Aerospace Scholars program. The purpose of the program is to encourage Texas high school students to pursue studies in math, science or engineering.
The State of Texas developed the Texas Aerospace Scholars program in partnership with NASA and the Texas educational community. It is designed to offer Texas high school students the opportunity to participate in an on-line educational program beginning this fall and features a one-week summer residential experience at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston.
Selected students will take part in a variety of activities including: interactive web-based activities; on-line mentoring; briefings and tours; field trips; and a team project at the Johnson Space Center.
Eligible students are required to meet the following criteria: currently a high school junior; U.S. citizen; at least 16 years of age; Texas resident; interest in science, math or engineering; able to commit to a one-year relationship with JSC, including a one-week summer residential experience; access to the internet and e-mail (home, school or public library).
Interested students should contact their high school principal or counselor for more information. High school principals will submit student applications to Representative Clark's office before October 1 for a final decision to be made.
