The Substance Abuse Council is hosting the first annual Substance Abuse Council "Smoke-Off" at Loy Lake Park. This is a dual-purpose event, first of all it is designed to bring information to our community about tobacco use, and the dangers involved, to encourage people to stop using tobacco products and to prevent youth from ever picking up this deadly habit. The other
purpose is to raise money to provide substance abuse prevention intervention
and treatment services in Texoma.
The Substance Abuse Council strives to provide family centered activities to
the community. These alcohol and tobacco free events foster a safe environment for children, while reinforcing the message "We have better things to do than drugs."
We would like to invite you to participate in this event by setting up a booth under the pavilion at Loy Lake Park telling about your services and if you choose you can also participate by hosting a carnival game. Each
agency that hosts a game (midway type carnival game) will receive $0.25 per
ticket that is spent at their booth. Agencies will submit the spent tickets to
the Council for reimbursement following the event.
Additionally the $30.00 booth fee can be in cash or in kind volunteer hours.
There are several volunteer opportunities including judging the BBQ Cook-off! Please indicate which volunteer position your agency will fill and the name and contact information of the volunteers. Booth space fee includes general admission for 2.
