Girls Inc. of Sherman put some wildlife into the Fairview Park swimming pool on Saturday. They held their annual Duck Race at the pool this past weekend and it was a huge success.
While parents sponsored their rubber duck, the kids had activities such as the water race that pitted the girls against the boys in a race to fill a trash can with water. Seems easy, doesn't it? Well the seemingly new trash can had some defects, most noticably holes punched in the side. This required some pretty heavy teamwork from everyone. Two or three people would be scooping water from the pool and dumping into the bucket while everyone else plugged the holes with their fingers and toes. The girls emerged victorious after a hard fought battle.
The Sherman Fire department was present spraying swimmers with a spare hose to insure that no one over-heated. This helped make an exciting day for everyone involved.
