Flat Fee Prescription Programs For Needy Seniors
Article
Last week's Update covered the Together Rx ™ Card that offers one-card access to savings on more than 150 medicines from seven major pharmaceutical companies for the estimated 8 - 11 million Medicare enrollees with no prescription drug coverage. This week the Lilly Answers and the Pfizer for Living Share Card™ programs will be discussed. The Eli Lilly and Company is launching Lilly Answers, a patient assistance program for low-income Medicare enrollees who do not have prescription drug coverage. The Lilly Answers card will allow seniors and people with disabilities under Medicare to pay a flat $12 fee for a 30-day supply of any retail distributed Lilly drug. It is estimated that more than five million Americans are eligible to receive the Lilly Answers card. The Lilly Answers program offers Lilly medications, including products for seniors suffering from osteoporosis, diabetes, depression and schizophrenia. There are potential annual savings on the average of $600 per product for chronic disease. Also, patient education information will be provided to help seniors manage their medical conditions. The enrollment is free and enrollment applications will be available by calling toll-free to 1-877-RX-LILLY or go to the Website: www.lillyanswers.com. The Pfizer Company offers a similar program entitled the Pfizer for Living Share Card™. To be eligible, a senior must be enrolled in Medicare, have no prescription drug coverage, be ineligible for Medicaid or any publicly funded drug benefit plan, and have an annual gross income of less than $18,000 or $24,000 for couples. The Share Card program offers $15 prescriptions for each Pfizer medicine (up to a 30-day supply), and upon request, free health information about important health issues. To initiate the enrollment process, call 1-800-717-6005. For further information on any of the prescription discount programs I have discussed, please write my Capitol office at P. O.
