Is anybody really listening? It's not easy. Magicians rely on the fact that people only see what they are looking for. Often one is entirely unaware that they are dealing with such an illusionist. Nobody is listening and our leaders know this. There has been - at least - two different wars declared that are extremely vague, if not totally meaningless. There is this war on terrorism, but what constitutes terrorism? Then, there is the war on drugs (which is pointless and way off target). With all the money spent to "fight" drugs we could have bought all the coca trees and poppy fields in the world and done with them as we wish (hypothetically, of course). Keep in mind, eliminating these two sources would do nothing to stop drug use. It's a behavioral problem. For example: When a certain group had a hard time gettings guns for their campaign, their intellectual resources were freed from this goal to develop cheap, home-made explosives. Is anybody listening? Is a solution being sought or are we just sugar coating? Our leaders (and apparently this includes the producers of WWF and Jackass) invest quite alot of resources making things look appealing. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have so many children hooked on methylphenidate (a form of meth-amphetamine used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder, which is not really a disorder, but that’s another story). During these last elections there was a news segment where a man was whining that there wasn't enough money to do a run-off. All they needed was some $12,000, but how much each candidate had spent on their own campaign? We hear scientists talk about the hole in the ozone layer. It has been presented to us as a bad thing, but how do we know it's not normal. Consider that we've only been observing the ozone levels since 1956. They know your not really listening. Now, here is the gist of this story: There once were a man and a woman serving a sentence together in Louisiana for some minor felonies. They met, fell in Love, and escaped together. Over a period of some 28 years they married, had children and led a rather productive life. Then, they were discovered and returned to prison to serve out the rest of their sentence. This really happened. To better understand the point that is trying to be made here take a look at this hypothetical situation. Let’s say a man who smoked habitually discovered he had cancer. After seeing the doctor he was put on a rigor of chemotherapy that actually diminished his health further, and caused in him such a severe depression that he began contemplating suicide. After much consideration the man commits himself to his own form of recovery. He quits smoking, finds Love – or religion (or whatever) - and avoids going to the doctor. Miraculously, he recovers completely, but after many years the doctor finds him and forces him to continue his therapy. Would that make any sense? If it doesn't, then why are we still using methods that don't work? If prison is meant to reform, then why doesn't it do that? Some say prison is a deterrent, that the threat of prison keeps people in line, but it doesn't. It's a show put on to make people think something is being done, and what it does is create a society of criminals who are spreading their way of life into the free world. Our government has spent millions on research that came to the conclusion that putting bad kids with worse
