Joni Holiday has been selected by the Texoma HealthCare System Foundation to receive the 2003 Win Bayless Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Ms. Holiday will receive $500 to continue her nursing education. She plans to attend UTA in the fall.
The Win Bayless Scholarship was established by former Texoma Medical Center Board Chairman W. David Bayless in memory of his wife, Win, who was a nurse and graduate of GCC. Win Bayless started her career later than most. After her children were grown, she enrolled in Grayson County College's nursing program at age 43. She graduated in 1972 and worked as a registered nurse until her death at the age of 59.
Treasuring Mrs. Bayless' memory as a wife, a mother and a nurse, the David Bayless family established the Win Bayless Memorial Nursing Scholarship to encourage men and women who share her spirit of life.
Under the administration of the Texoma Medical Center Foundation, the Win Bayless Memorial Nursing Scholarship is awarded to Grayson County College sophomore-level ADN nursing students. Up to $500 is awarded to each recipient, $250 for each fall and spring semester.
