Powerful Beauty

I was allowed to cross the street to visit with my friend, since I knew how to look left, right and then left again and listen.
His dad was home with some of his riding buddies. Losing interest in finding my friend, the man on the bike consumed my attention. I was raised to detest alcohol, but I could see that he would be incomplete without the beer. He was safe as long as he could drink.
He eventually noticed me and I asked him what the tattoo (black widow hourglass) meant. He said it was a mistake. I continued to stare at his arms KNOWING there were deeper meanings. He spoke again, "It means I can read minds."
Then I pointed to the tattoo "Powerful Beauty". He said I was too young to understand that one and he asked, pointing at the hourglass, "What does this mean?"
I told him that it was a mistake and he laughed saying, "You're pretty smart." He then told me things I would not repeat to just anyone. These things I already knew and he pointed that out to me. "Someday," he said, "you will know everything." And he drifted back into the comfort of the cloud.
I found David and we continued being children, renewing the Earth.
