New food servers and handlers in San Marcos will soon have online access to self-paced training program and testing available in English and Spanish to earn a food handler’s permit good anywhere in Texas.
The online courseware, offered by Food Handler Classes for the City of San Marcos Environmental Health Department, eliminates the need for physical classrooms, printed material, paid instructors, and clerical staff. Cost is $25.
The web site is located at http://sanmarcostx.foodhandlerclasses.com . The program is self-contained, self-paced, available in both English and Spanish, and available 24/7.
The curriculum covers all of the material required by the Texas Department of State Health Services and allows the student to register for and take the test.
Once the test is passed, the student can immediately print out his/her Food Handler certificate and bring it in to San Marcos Environmental Health where it will be registered. The program is accredited by the State of Texas, which mean the permit is good anywhere in the state.
The Texas Department of State Health Services is on a mission to eliminate food borne illness in throughout the state. One big component of their strategy is the implementation of Food Handler Safety training which requires people involved in the food service industry to be trained in the proper process and procedures involved in safe food handling.
The Food Handler Classes certification course for San Marcos costs $25 and is designed for any food service employee who wants the best training in the least amount of time.
